Kathryn, when will I be able to change the season?

“Autumn is a second spring where every leaf is a flower.”  MMS Primary I students have been captivated as they discover, observe, examine and discuss the many signs of autumn.  These include treasures such as bittersweet, harvested fruit, acorns, pumpkins, gourds and Indian corn.  Children are also learning about the position of the earth in relation to the sun as we transition to fall. This is explored in a multisensory fashion, using a candle to represent the sun, a globe, and a mat. A particular point of interest among students is rotating the earth as it revolves around the sun. Many children ask: “Kathyrn, when will I be able to change the season?”  Excitement about reading, learning, the decimal system, grinding coffee and experiencing new sensorial materials abounds among our 3 to 6 year olds.  It is a true pleasure to be a part of this process, says Primary I LeavesLead Guide Kathryn Rhoads.
