Employment Opportunities

Envision yourself… nurturing potential, touching tomorrow, inspiring the future. That’s at the heart of our mission at Mountaineer Montessori and we’re inviting expressions of interest to join our exceptional staff of caring professionals in the 2021-22 school year.

Currently, we are accepting applications for the following:

* Toddler Assistant. The assistant will work with a Lead Teacher in our new Toddler program, the only of its kind in West Virginia. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to help introduce high-quality Montessori to younger friends for the first time in our community. Full time position.

* Elementary Assistant. The assistant will work with a Lead Teacher and serve students in one of our two Upper Elementary (grades 4-6) classrooms. The Montessori Elementary curriculum is an inspiring, hands-on, child-centered approach to learning and the Assistant plays a critical role in supporting students at this important stage. Full time position.

* Plus Program staff. We also are adding to our amazing team of after school staff. Plus openings are for part time positions, working 2:45-5:45 pm, two to five days a week.

All positions offer a wonderful opportunity to experience Montessori and be a part of a very special community of professional educators, engaged students and supportive families that has been remaking learning for 45 years.

Founded in 1976, MMS is West Virginia’s original and largest Montessori school, and will serve an estimated 170 children ages toddler through 8th grade next year.

MMS offers an expansive academic and arts curriculum in a high fidelity Montessori environment. Our program meets and exceeds state curriculum standards, going far beyond through hands on learning, community service and engagement, and experiential learning opportunities throughout our neighborhood, state and nation. At MMS, the world is our classroom!

Now in our fifth decade, MMS is the only American Montessori Society full member school and only AMS Pathways to Continuous School Improvement school in the state. MMS makes a major investment in Montessori training and professional development each year to support our teachers and ensure the highest quality education experience for our students.

Interested candidates should email a resume and cover letter to MMS Director Jennifer Carriger at jcarriger@mountaineermontessori.org at their very earliest convenience.
