At Mountaineer Montessori, the learning doesn’t end when class is over. Our Plus Program extends the Montessori curriculum after school, offering a rich variety of activities and materials in a nurturing environment to keep the discovery and learning going throughout the day. The highly experienced and caring Plus team, led by Karen Kelly (17 years at MMS), includes Susie Newhouse (a certified Montessori primary guide for 20+ years) and Maria Leon Kershner (23 years in early childhood education, including eight at MMS). All Plus staff have participated in ongoing AMS Montessori training, from the lead guide to the assistant level.
Our beautiful, welcoming Plus Rooms are designed by Montessori professionals, featuring materials and activities consistent with the Montessori philosophy. Students also enjoy activity in the outdoor environment and seasonal fun throughout the year. The Plus Program is not “daycare,” but an extension of the Montessori curriculum.
