Engage With MMS
Mountaineer Montessori School is a special community that brings students, teachers, parents, alumni, businesses and friends together to help children fulfill their unique potential, serve our neighbors and create a better world for all people.
Our school is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded by tuition, foundation and business partnerships, and personal donations. We receive no government funding.
Community support helps keep our program accessible to the growing number of families seeking access to high-quality alternatives to one-size-fits-all schools. Enrollment has nearly doubled over the past five years and we are currently unable to enroll all applicants due to space and financial constraints.
We invite you to help MMS offer a world-class, 21st century education to children in West Virginia and increase access to our school through financial aid by engaging with us today!

Virtually Epic: 2020 MMS Spring Gala
Each spring, MMS presents a major school fundraiser. The 2020 event, VIRTUALLY EPIC, will be held Saturday, May 30, from 7:00-8:00 p.m.
The Mountaineer Montessori out-of-the-box, out-of-the-classroom approach to education empowers the potential in each child and creates an inspired future for our students, community and world.
Founded in 1976, Mountaineer Montessori is West Virginia’s original and largest Montessori school, offering a world-class educational experience to 142 students ages 3-14 right here in Charleston. “Epic Education,” the 2019 MMS Annual Appeal, will provide critical funding to help us meet the growing demand for superior academic options in our community and sustain our 43-year tradition of excellence and innovation in education.
As part of our campaign, MMS students, families, teachers and alumni are sharing their Montessori stories to highlight what epic education means to them and the impact our school has made.
You can learn about the campaign and hear from students, families, teachers and alumni how and what the epic MMS experience means to them here.’

Plant the seeds for the tomorrow. Making a legacy gift to MMS ensures that your commitment to quality education will be sustained into the future. Did you know that anyone can create a legacy gift at any point in their life? It can be as easy as naming MMS on the beneficiary form on a savings, checking or pension account, or through a more complex instrument like a charitable trust. All these gifts represent a powerful and meaningful way for you to create a philanthropic legacy for your community and Mountaineer Montessori.
To discuss an estate gift, or donation of real estate, securities or other properties, please contact MMS Director Jennifer Carriger, 304/342-7870/ email@example.com.
The MMS educational experience is enriched by community members and friends who volunteer their time and talents in a variety of ways. Your volunteer service is valued and makes a real difference.
