Engage With MMS
Light the Way for Education with Mountaineer Montessori School
Mountaineer Montessori School is a special community that brings faculty, students, parents, alumni, businesses and friends together to help children fulfill their unique potential and create a better world for all people.
This commitment is manifested by their generous donations of time, talent and treasure. By sharing their gifts with us, community members and friends sustain our academic and cultural programming and increase access to a Mountaineer Montessori education through our scholarship program.
MMS is a private, non-profit organization and receives no government funding. Private support, generated from tuition, financial donations, fundraising events, grants and in-kind contributions, is our sole of income.
We invite you to join the growing list of partners and friends who are creating a better future by investing in education at MMS. We invite you to ENGAGE with us today.
Lighting the Way for Education Campaign
Maria Montessori believed that the role of education was not to make a child merely learn things, “but to always to keep burning within him that light which is called intelligence.”
“Lighting the Way for Education” is our campaign to develop the financial resources that spark and sustain that light for the students of today and tomorrow. From spaghetti dinners to lemonade stands, annual appeals to glittering galas, we present a variety of entertaining and inspiring avenues to support our educational programs and tuition assistance programs. (For information on upcoming opportunities to support MMS, please see our “What’s New” section of the website.)
New: Planting the Seeds for the Future: The Mountaineer Montessori Middle School campaign
In response to our strong enrollment and demonstrated interest from our families, MMS will extend its unmatched educational program through the eighth grade in an environment that meets the unique need of adolescent students. “Planting the Seeds for the Future” lays the groundwork for expanding the school’s curriculum beginning in August 2014. Through this campaign, we will engage business, community and educational leaders in this exciting program to build a new generation of leaders, innovators and thoughtful citizens who will shape the future of West Virginia. Read more here.
The centerpiece of this annual campaign is our “Luminaria Gala,” an uplifting all-ages celebration that showcases exemplary efforts by community leaders and MMS students to light the way for education for all children. This very-Montessori event includes creative cuisine, live music, original presentations by MMS students, an extensive auction and many surprises. Our inaugural Luminaria Gala, held at the Clay Center, was a great success. More than 300 attended this special evening, which was supported by dozens of corporate sponsors, auction contributors and individual supporters.
Other MMS Lighting the Way fundraising activities include:
