Create the future at the brightest night of the year!

Montessori education in living color. Alive. Bright. Real.

For 40 years, Mountaineer Montessori School has brought learning to life, offering a hands-on, real world, world-class education that inspires children to discover and become who they were meant to be. At MMS, we are creating the next generation of innovators, problem-solvers and engaged citizens, equipped with a love of learning, self-confidence and responsible leadership to meet the challenges of a changing world.

Celebrate education in living color!

On May 20, 2017, MMS will celebrate our colorful tradition of education in living color and honor three special teachers and guest artists who have enriched our students’ educational experience through integrated arts programming for a combined 75 years:

Barrie Kaufman

Nancy Johnston

Charly Hamilton

All current and former MMS parents, current and former teachers, alumni, artists and community partners are invited to this very special celebration!

Arts and Academics

History timelines.

At MMS, the arts are embedded throughout our curriculum, offering exceptional opportunities for students to explore and develop deep understanding of science, history, literature, math and other subjects, as well as develop cultural literacy, creative thinking and confidence.

MMS serves 125 children ages 3-14, and is the largest, oldest and most recognized Montessori school in the state. Corporate, foundation and philanthropic investment in our mission enables us to serve our community’s growing demand for superior education options.

We’re ‘making’ the future at MMS!

Creating chemical models from gumdrops!

“Creating is not just a ‘nice’ activity. It connects, transforms and empowers. If we want a world full of innovative, entrepreneurial thinkers, we need to enable and sustain ‘making’ from a very young age.”  Paula Briggs, AccessArt
